RED FRIDAY TALKS
Congratulations 20 Years of RED Friday: Remember Everyone Deployed
Welcome to a historic event as we honor two decades of RED Friday (remember everyone deployed), a movement that has tremendously helped the military since its founding in 2004/2005. Inspired by visionaries Lisa Miller and Karen Boire, RED Friday has become a symbol of solidarity with many events on Parliament Hill and the broad wearing of red t-shirts on Friday to honor those deployed.
"Our Foundations and Development"
The goal was straightforward but effective from the beginning. Knowing the common stress injuries suffered by military personnel and veterans, Lisa and Karen wanted to broaden the RED Friday movement to encompass first responders. With the inclusion of military veteran Bob McTaggart and public safety sector veteran Dave Connor, author of the RED Friday assistance program, this mission has expanded today.
Today's Goal: Changing Mental Health Global Scene
RED Friday aims to address the global mental health issue in the future. Our aim is to enable people to avoid self-harm until professional assistance is available by means of peer support and guidance. It gives us immense pleasure to announce the availability of our outstanding free peer support training. Originally designed for fire departments, this training is now available to everyone globally who would find use for it.
Join us as we embark on a continuous journey to significantly impact mental health globally. Working together, we can keep remembering, helping, and empowering those who serve.
